I bring brand-level strategic thinking and a storytelling approach to content creation, social campaigns, digital experiences, and innovation. I love great ideas, no matter what form they take, no matter how or where people engage with them.
I come from a visual background with an emphasis on design “with an idea”. Through twenty plus years in the business, I’ve developed an in-the-trenches leadership style, and a keen sense of strategy. Out of necessity, I’ve become an accomplished writer.
I’ve led multi-disciplinary teams at above-the-line agencies on accounts like Altoids, Clorox, Chevrolet and American Express. On the digital side, I’ve been creative lead on accounts like Netflix, Samsung Mobile, Xbox, HTC, Intel and Microsoft. I’ve tackled everything from short films, social campaigns and content strategy, to product design, branding, website development and user experience. I’m comfortable leading large teams, and smaller, nimble teams, as well as being one-man “hired gun”. I also love working directly with brands, assembling diverse teams, wearing many hats, and delivering high production value on tight budgets.
As a freelance creative, I’ve worked with some amazing people at some amazing agencies including Deutsch LA, BBDO, Razorfish, Publicis Modem, Riney, AKQA, Crispin Porter Bogusky, Eleven Inc., Draft FCB, TMA, Secret Weapon, Hoffman Lewis, 180 LA, Commerce House, Adworks, Team One, and Evolution Bureau. Brands include: Taco Bell, California Milk, Microsoft, Paypal, eBay, American Express, Activision / DJ Hero, Coke Zero, VW, GAP, Saturn, HTC, Callaway Golf, Virgin America, Apple, Nabisco, Nationwide Insurance, Clearwire, Bevmo, Adidas, Cleveland Clinic, Lexus, and Cytosport.
I am adept in Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator. Proficient in Premiere. I dabble with html and Flash. I’m an aspiring director and cinematographer, and am always pushing the limits of my skills as an editor.
I have a need to be constantly learning and making things, so I always have a range of personal projects, and prototypes in the works. I’m an avid cyclist and an active martial artist. I am also the Chair of the MBP Founders, a non-profit organization working to design and build San Francisco’s first bike park.
I live in San Francisco, but am happy to travel the West Coast and/or work remotely with agencies and clients around the globe.
Recognition: Multiple Cannes Lions and shortlists, One Show Pencils and Merits, Clios, Effies, NY Festivals, London International Awards, D&AD, Kelly Awards, Addys, Obies, Webbys and Smarties. My work has been featured in industry publications including Communication Arts Advertising and Design Annuals, Lurzer’s Archive, Creativity, AdAge, Adweek, and Contagious.
