Flightless Birds: A Study In Mortality
I commuted to work in San Francisco for over 10 years by bike and began to frequently notice dead pigeons in the road, in the gutter, and sometimes in the bike lane. The more I saw, the more I began to question my own mortality while sharing the streets with cars, cabs, speeding buses and trains. This may seem morbid, but these pigeons became a bit of a reality check for me. They made me slow down and take less risks. They also become very graphic and simplistic. Almost beautiful. All taking on the same color palette. Gray, black, red. A white line. Metal and asphalt. All photos taken with iPhone 4 and 5S. No Instagram. No filters.
